About Us

We are a husband and wife team, each with over 30 years of teaching experience. Liz has had the privilege of teaching primary school children and Dom teaches older children in secondary schools and Sixth Form. We therefore have a vast experience and knowledge of children of different ages and have supported and worked with hundreds of parents and carers with their child’s learning over the years. More importantly, we are parents ourselves with two daughters now in their late teens and early twenties, which gives us a good empathy and understanding of the needs and concerns of working parents. At Newton Abbot Childcare, we care for a small number of children which means that we can structure the day and plan activities around the child’s interests and routines. We believe that caring for babies and young children within a home environment helps to make them feel secure, happy and safe, and therefore able to learn and develop into well-rounded and confident beings. Having the same carer each day provides consistency and security and also alleviates the anxiety of separation that some children (and parents!) feel. It also enables us to develop a strong relationship based on trust and respect with parents. Our aim is to provide a personalised service tailored to your child’s personal interests and needs.

Tallulah Tortoise & The Chooks.

We have a tortoise and five chickens, which provide lots of fun, learning opportunities and interest for the children and the whole family. We hope that your child will join in with the feeding and other routines relating to the animals, especially the excitement of collecting fresh eggs daily from the chickens which live in a very special hutch called an ‘Egloo’. We have a pet’s policy document that you can find on the policies page but health and hygiene are very important to us, so hand gels are easily accessible and hand washing routines are carried out routinely.
