Meet The Team

(We are all CRB checked).

We are a husband and wife team, each with over 30 years teaching experience. Liz’s career has seen her teaching primary age children and Dominic is a secondary school and sixth form teacher. We therefore have a vast experience of different aged children and have worked with hundreds of children and their parents and carers over the years. More importantly, we have children ourselves, which gives us a good understanding of the needs of working parents.

Liz Miles B.Ed Hons.

Liz decided to stop teaching in the Summer of 2011 after 30 years’ experience in Key Stage 1 and most recently Reception and Nursery Unit. The last few years have given Liz the expertise to make careful observations of children and their stage of development so that appropriate next steps and activities can be planned for them. She has a thorough knowledge of the Early years Foundation Stage. During her career, she has held many responsibilities, including Art Co-ordinator, Creative Arts Co-ordinator, Designated Child Protection Teacher and Health and Safety Representative. All this experience, together with a whole host of skills, puts her in an excellent position to deliver exceptional care for your child. Liz is a competent guitar player with a love of music making with children and has built up a wide repertoire of action rhymes and songs to delight, teach and amuse children of all ages. Another keen interest of hers is teaching Modern Foreign Language to young children through songs, rhymes and everyday phrases, so be prepared for a few words of greeting in French or German from your children! Some of Liz’s personal interests are keeping fit through swimming, indoor cycling and Zumba dancing. She likes to express her creative side through photography, art and gardening, especially propagating succulents, agave and cacti.

Dominic Miles B.Ed Hons.

Dominic works part-time in Paignton and when not teaching, works closely with Liz to provide first rate childcare and is an excellent role model as a male carer. Dominic trained as a Craft, Design and Technology teacher but over the years has developed a real passion and expertise in ICT. He is an ICT teacher in charge of VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) and in his spare time, enjoys web design and computer graphics. Dominic enjoys practising his skills through construction, building and junk modelling with young children. Not many people know that Dominic is an excellent story teller, making up stories that include favourite objects and features from the children’s own lives! On a personal note, Dominic enjoys keeping fit through X-biking and kayaking. He is a member of the Teignbridge Canoe Club and has passed his water-based First Aid for kayakers. During the summer, he can often been seen kayaking from Teignmouth beach and has provided kayak safety support for charity swims on many occasions.

Our Daughters

Matilda (B.A) and Meg.
Both our daughters have been security checked and hold Criminal Records Bureau certificates in line with Ofsted regulations. As part of the family, they take an active interest in child care and enjoy being around children and giving a helping hand.

Matilda, who has a degree in Fine Art and Sculpture, currently works as an art technician in a large community college in Plymouth. During the last two summers she has worked as a nanny in San Francisco and most recently the South of France, each with families with children under 5 years old.

Meg is studying for A levels at Exeter College and often baby sits for our two nieces and nephew, so she is used to reading stories and playing with children, and also having fun! Like Matilda, Meg is artistic and musical and is full of ideas for exciting and interesting art activities!
